This is a 12-month participation engagement. These sessions will equip a pastor to guide his leadership team through a comprehensive evaluation and vision for the church. Over the course of a year we will diagnose the five vital organs of a healthy church body. Two books will be assigned for reading, and homework will be given each month. Pastor cohorts will be limited to 4-6 pastors per cohort. Sessions will be conducted via video conferencing
Through the generosity of partnerships, grants and donors, we make it financially possible for any church to engage.
Pleasant View Baptist ChurchRock Point ChurchSmall Church USA
After decades of gradual decline, Pleasant View Baptist Church was left with only a faithful remnant of twenty senior adults. As the church continued to struggle, it gradually became unhealthy, inwardly focused, outdated, lifeless and in danger of closing its doors for good. The challenge of attempting revitalization seemed virtually hopeless, but this small dedicated group did not want God’s church to dissolve. They believed there was still hope.
1998With the assistance of a “mothering church,” Terry Thompson was selected to be the new lead pastor and things began to change. The church was in desperate need of a clear mission and new vision. The revitalization overhaul began with a commitment to biblical teaching and a willingness of the church family to work hard and accept needed change. With a fresh outlook and much effort, God blessed and the church began its journey to renewed health and growth.
2000Over the next 10 years, Pleasant View Baptist Church experienced the favor of God. The church regained its health and began to grow. By 2008 the church was running three morning services, with the existing building and property at maximum capacity. The decision was made to relocate and build a new ministry facility. The name was also changed at that time to Rock Point Church. Once in the new building, attendance doubled in size as God continued to work.
2010Rock Point Church has come a long way in the past 20+ years. Their vision is now to be a healthy church that assists in multiplying healthy churches. One of Rock Point’s initiatives today is to partner with Small Church USA as they fulfill the mission of encouraging and strengthing pastors, pastors’ wives and churches to revitalized health. Rock Point believes this is a partnership that will greatly impact the kingdom of Jesus Christ. It’s also an opportunity to repay the kindness shown to them in 1998. Paying it forward!
